Deputy Director (Legal) Responsibilities:
Review complaints, assist in case triage, and draft findings, orders, and recommendations for the Ombudsperson's approval.
Conduct legal research on harassment jurisprudence, property rights, and relevant precedents.
Ensure statutory timelines and procedural fairness are met at every stage.
Draft subordinate legislation, rules, and internal procedural guidelines.
Prepare legal opinions and briefing notes on emerging legal issues and appellate risk.
Vet all writ petitions and other cases filed before courts, tribunals, and other fora involving FOSPAH.
Liaise with the President's Secretariat on the disposal of representations.
Represent FOSPAH, coordinate with outside legal counsel, and prepare para-wise comments, replies, and documentation.
Track pending litigation, advise Inquiry Committees, and support training by Legal Advisors and enquiry officers.
Develop material and deliver training on FOSPAH Laws for outreach and awareness programs.
Provide legal input for MOUs, partnerships, and international engagements (e.g., OIC Ombudsman Association).
Supervise Law Officers, Assistant Directors (Legal), ALOs, and Interns, and contribute to FOSPAH annual reports.
Staff Officer Responsibilities:
Perform duties as Personal Staff Officer (PSO) to the Hon'ble Ombudsperson FOSPAH.
Coordinate and liaise with government offices, corporate entities, and NGOs for official meetings, conferences, and seminars nationally and internationally.
Compile briefs, summaries, and background material on key operational issues.
Draft and process official correspondence, tracking pending decisions and deadlines.
Support the Communications Department for media coordination, interviews, and public engagements.
Arrange travel, logistics, and security arrangements for official visits.
Assistant Director (Legal) Responsibilities:
Assist in reviewing, researching, and preparing departmental cases, including gathering evidence and relevant materials.
Conduct directed research on harassment jurisprudence, property rights, and legal precedents.
Vet and assist in preparing writ petitions and court cases, supporting representation and counsel coordination.
Provide preliminary legal advice under the guidance of the Deputy Director (Legal).
Assist in drafting SOPs, subordinate legislation, and procedural guidelines.
Maintain and update the legal case database ensuring accuracy and quality.
Prepare weekly institutional statements and case-disposal statistics for the Ombudsperson.
Support research on strengthening FOSPAH governing Acts and liaise with the President's Secretariat on representations.
Coordinate with Communications and Training teams to disseminate FOSPAH's mandate and supervise legal interns.
